1. Hand Pain and / or Pins and Needles or Numbness

Hand Pain and tingling that is particularly intrusive in the early hours of the morning, or that wakes you up, or is associated with numbness of the middle finger, thumb and index finger.

Is likely to be Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

2. Hand Numbness Little and Ring Fingers

Numbness and / or weakness and difficulty in doing fine tasks such as doing up buttons is likely to be from Ulnar Nervce Compression.

Is likely to be Ulnar Nerve Decompression.

3. Thumb Pain at Base of Thumb

Pain and / or stiffness at the base of the thumb is commonly from 'Wear and Tear' or Osteoarthritis of the base of the thumb. Symptoms of pain when pinching such aswhen picking up a weight is often experienced in this condition.

Treatment is likely to be Trapezium Arthritis.

4. Finger Stiffness and Locking or Jamming

This is usually the result of a trigger finger (or thumb) condition.

Is likely to be Trigger Finger Trigger Thumb.

5. Finger Contracture

If this affects the little or ring finger it is likely to be a Dupuytrens Contracture especially if you have not had a recent injury.

6. Thumb / Wrist Pain

Pain along the thumb which comes on quite rapidly and is made worse by actions such as pouring water from a kettle or by making a wide span of the hand is likely to be a Tenosynivitus (Tendon Inflammation)

Is likely to be De Quervains Tenosynovectomy.

7. Finger Joint Osteoarthritis

Finger joint osteoarthritis can be treated by joint replacement or by fusion of the finger depending upon which joint is involved.
